Channel 4 unveils two Brand New Comedy Blaps

Category: News Release

Channel 4’s online comedy showcase Comedy Blaps today unveiled two brand new rib-tickling mini-series.
First, let us introduce you to two new words:

Foley (Noun): The reproduction of everyday sound effects that are added to film, video and other media in post-production to enhance audio quality.

Wall stud (Noun): An internal vertical wall that is a fundamental element in building framing. Usually used as room dividers.  It is NOT a sex term. Well, that we’re aware of.

First up, Sam Simmons: Wallstud is written by and starring award-winning Australian Comedian, Sam Simmons, aka the wallstud of comedy. Simmons is not good at people, has a weird looking head, his paranoid fantasies clutter the gutters of his mind and he doesn’t look good in jeans.

In Episode 1, Renegade Angle, Sam is hungry and feels like ham but can he abide by the rules of the deli? Episode 2’s Friends sees Sam meet Phil. In Ep 3’s Spin Cycle, Sam’s breakfast is interrupted by a stranger using his washing machine.

Sam Simmons: Wallstud is written by and starring Sam Simmons, produced by Pippa Brown and directed by Richard Pengelley. It is a Cave Bear production and was commissioned for Channel 4 by Fiona McDermott, Commissioning Editor, Comedy.

The Art of Foley, written and created by Comedy Performers Rich Hardisty and Andy Needle, is about Roger and Roger, two Foley Artists who haven’t worked on a hit project in years. The series follows them as they try to rekindle their career and also stars Mark Heap (Spaced, Green Wing, Friday Night Dinner), Gemma Whelan (Game of Thrones, Mapp & Lucia), Arnab Chanda and Nina Smith.

Episode 1, Earrings, sees Roger and Roger head to the studio to record sound effects for a remastered horror movie. All is well until Rogers M’s missus catches him wearing her finest earrings.
In Crow, Episode 2, Roger and Roger are on the hunt for the sound of a depressed crow, and have to try and hold it together when slagged off by their arch rivals The Foley Trinity.
In the final instalment Velcro, Roger H goes on a date, leaving Roger M at home with his wife Pippa. It’s a shame he isn’t as good at small talk as he is making sound effects….

The Art of Foley is written and created by Rich Hardisty and Andy Needle, executive produced by Rebecca Ferguson and produced by Lydia Hampson and directed by Ben Gregor. It is a Slim Film and Television production and was commissioned for Channel 4 by Laura Riseam and Liz Lewin.

Following roaring success over the past two years, and clocking over 2.6 million views, Channel 4’s Comedy Blaps air original web shows from up and coming comedy talent. Watch this space as yet another of our Blaps from last year has made it to series; Chewing Gum. Bad Robots 2 also started life as a tasty Blap treat and will return in summer 2015.
