Channel 4 wins nine RTS awards

Cheer up, Colers, you've just won another award, you clever old stick, you!

 

Remarkably Tedious Smugness

The good ship Channel 4 was adrift on an ocean of self-congratulatory goo today, its crew all below decks enjoying extra rum rations in celebration of the fact that the broadcaster won nine Royal Television Society Programme Awards last night.

 

Rivals Trounced Soundly

At what we are duty-bound to call a ‘star-studded bash’ at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, Channel 4 won more awards than any other single channel, in categories ranging from history to entertainment, drama to documentary. (Wait… there are other channels???)

 

Run’s Twin Swoop

The drama Run won two awards, for Best Writer (Drama) (Marlon Smith and Daniel Fajemisin-Duncan) and Best Actor (Female) (Olivia Colman, though this was awarded both for Run and some show called Broadchurch which NOBODY we spoke to had even HEARD OF!)
