Channel 4's Educating returns
Category: News Release
Channel 4’s Head of Documentaries Nick Mirsky has commissioned TwoFour to produce a fifth “Educating…” documentary series following a school in Salford, Manchester.
Mirsky says: “Educating is an enormously important part of our documentary output at Channel. We have had a year without the series and are extremely excited to return with a new school in Salford. The new series promises to unearth more inspirational, entertaining and heart-rending stories from the hallways of Harrop Fold, with a few new elements thrown in to the mix.”
Headteacher Drew Povey says, “The school has been on an incredible journey over recent years and we are extremely proud of our students, staff and local community. We have been given the opportunity to share our story through the Educating series, we believed it was something that we had to do. Team Harrop has been galvanised by its significant challenges but unswerving commitment to making the difference. We believe that something special is happening in Harrop Fold, Little Hulton and Salford and we have the highest aspirations for the future of all our students, staff and stakeholders.”
The commission follows a year’s break after the critically acclaimed series Educating Cardiff and the award-winning Educating Yorkshire.
Grace Reynolds, Executive Producer at TwoFour, said: “We feel privileged to be bringing Educating back for a fifth series and are thrilled it’s coming to the North West. We haven’t been to a school quite like Harrop Fold before and look forward sharing the stories of its inspirational teachers and students, as well as the remarkable work the school does in the local community.”
The 8 x 60' series will be overseen by Channel 4 Commissioning Editors Rita Daniels and Nick Mirsky. The executive producers for Twofour are David Clews, Andrew Mackenzie and Grace Reynolds. The Series Producer is Clare Cameron and Series Director is Warren Smith. The documentary title is to be confirmed. The series is set to air Autumn 2017.
