Channel 4's Funny Fortnight: Verry Terry

Category: News Release

Channel 4's Funny Fortnight launch night (August 16th) includes a brand new show, Verry Terry, featuring Kayvan Novak starring as Terry Tibbs, car salesman turned international television star of E4's Fonejacker and Channel 4's Facejacker.  He has finally hit the big time by securing his own prime time chat show.

His first guests to join him in the studio are Hollywood legend and all round tough guy Mickey Rourke - actor (The Wrestler, Sin City, 9½ Weeks), screenwriter and retired boxer who talks about filming his new film, the life of Welsh rugby star, Gareth Thomas and reveals how Kim Basinger turned him down on the set of 9½ weeks and that 'Mickey' is in fact only a stage name - and housewives' favourite, TV presenter Anthea Turner. Terry and Anthea discuss how she is the best person to get Britain 'crafting' after all the time she spent making things on Blue Peter, at which point they have to explain to Mickey  that Blue Peter is not a man called Peter painted blue.

Alongside Verry Terry, Funny Fortnight kicks off with the first showing on TV of Peter Kay's The Tour That Didn't Tour, an episode of Brass Eye, and archive treats from The Weekenders with Vic & Bob circa 1992 and The 11 O'Clock Show.

Channel 4's Funny Fortnight will be a two week long extravaganza of brand new shows, excellent stand up and archive treats featuring many a familiar face - celebrating a future of even more top notch comedy and trumpeting a long commitment to championing and breaking new comedy. August will see comedy take over C4, so pack the gold medals away as giggles will take top spot with around 45 hours of comedy programming.
