Chris Addison to front new talent showcase series for E4
Category: News ReleaseChris Addison is to bring his considerable comedic talents to the helm of a brand new comedy series, which will be a celebration of story telling, stand up and new comedy talent.
Chris Addison's Show and Tell (w/t) is an intimate, informal studio set production, filmed in front of small audience. Each week, Chris will be joined on the sofas by three up and coming comics, who will each bring something to "show". The items they produce - be it topical, personal or completely random, will be the launch pad for them to take it in turns to perform a mini solo stand up routine, "telling" the audience about their chosen item, "showing" why its rich comedy pickings. The audience will also bring items, and the comedians will use what they bring as improv for future confluence and conviviality.
Chris will use the items they show as a launch pad for their sofa-based discussion - cuing comedy chat at its finest and most fluid.
Chris Addison's Show and Tell (w/t) was commissioned by Channel 4 Commissioning Editor Nerys Evans and will be produced by Avalon Productions.
Nerys Evans said,
"The beauty of this format is that it's loose and unconstrained, giving new talent a chance to shine...think four funny people bouncing off each other rather than point scoring. It gives their comedy potential the space to breathe. Chris Addison is a comic at the top of his game, he's a complete natural with an amazingly sharp and warm wit, he's the perfect host for a show of this kind."
Supporting and nurturing new talent is at the heart of Channel 4's comedy remit - we have an unrivalled history of being a launch pad for generations of talent that have gone to become popular successes from Jonathan Ross, Ricky Gervais, Vic & Bob, Sacha Baron Cohen and Russell Brand.
We're really excited about Show and Tell (w/t) - it's fantastic to have a comic of Chris's stature hosting a show for us, and this series will be a great way for new and undiscovered talent to get exposure."
