The Comedy Blaps are back

After their runaway success last year (more than 2 million views across all platforms), today Channel 4 unveils the second batch of the next big thing: Comedy Blaps, the online showcase to help develop new programme ideas and discover tomorrow's comedy stars today.

Ordered and overseen by Comedy Commissioning Editor Fiona McDermott working with Multiplatform Commissioning Editor for Comedy & Entertainment Jody Smith , Blaps are a series of short form videos available on Channel 4.com as well as Youtube, Vimeo and as a podcast on iTunes and Feedburner.

 

Doctor Brown
Introducing the inimitable Doctor Brown, the master of misrule. Doctor Brown is the character creation of renowned clown and mime artist Phil Burgers. Originally from the US, his award-winning live shows have won him international acclaim as the wizard of buffoonery - taking idiocy to its most skilful extreme. Working closely here with writer and director Andrew Gaynord, these two Blaps are his first on screen creations, exploring physical comedy and stupidity.

Nick Helm
Since being nominated for the Foster's Edinburgh Comedy Award 2012 Best Show Nick Helm has spent 7 Months creating 13 and half minutes of online content. Ricocheting from talking-head poet to crazed lounge rocker, Nick shoves his broken heart in your face in three tour de force Blaps -  taking you on a journey through the highs and lows of man's wretched soul. Earlier this year Irish comedy duo Rubberbandits secured a broadcast pilot on the back of their Blaps success, proof positive that this grassroots initiative can deliver big breaks for new writers and performers. The show is due to be broadcast later this year. More Comedy Blaps are also due to land later in 2012.
