The Couple Next Door - episode synopses

Episode One
Life feels perfect for schoolteacher Evie (Eleanor Tomlinson) and her partner Pete (Alfred Enoch). They’re moving into a beautiful new house, have a baby on the way and their new neighbours, the glamorous Becka (Jessica De Gouw) and Danny (Sam Heughan) look set to become instant friends.

But when tragedy strikes, the couple find themselves blindsided by grief. Evie lashes out at her religious family, rejects her old life but embraces her new friends, especially Danny, who she finds herself increasingly attracted to. Realising this, Pete can’t help but worry about what might have just been unleashed, especially when he discovers that Danny and Becka have a very open relationship.

Episode Two
During a day trip to the coast, the chemistry between Evie (Eleanor Tomlinson) and Danny (Sam Heughan) is electric, amusing Becka (Jessica De Gouw) and horrifying Pete (Alfred Enoch). Evie can’t get the tantalising idea of couple swapping out of her head. 

Desperate for money, Danny gets drawn even further into illegal operations, but a routine job soon takes a horrifying turn. Elsewhere, Alan’s (Hugh Dennis) obsession with Becka grows after he violates her privacy even further.

Episode Three
The sexual tension between the two couples reaches boiling point during a weekend away. Alan’s (Hugh Dennis) obsession with Becka (Jessica De Gouw) escalates further, with devastating consequences.

Episode Four
Pete (Alfred Enoch) struggles to process what happened during the spa weekend. Evie (Eleanor Tomlinson) conceals a secret. Becka (Jessica De Gouw) deals with the fallout from the blog post and Danny (Sam Heughan) is given an ultimatum.

Episode Five
An ultimatum from Pete (Alfred Enoch) deepens Evie’s (Eleanor Tomlinson) obsession with Danny (Sam Heughan). Danny’s plan to get Spencer (Mark Frost) out of his life is thwarted by Pete and Sophie’s (Ioanna Kimbook) front page scoop.

Episode Six
As secrets spill out during a violent showdown in the Yorkshire Dales, will Danny (Sam Heughan) and Becka’s (Jessica De Gouw) relationship finally be destroyed by the couple next door?
