Danny Horan appointed as Channel 4 Head of Factual

Channel 4’s Director of Programmes, Ian Katz has appointed Danny Horan as Head of Factual.

Horan will oversee the Factual commissioning team, including Specialist Factual and Documentaries, reporting to Katz.

Ian Katz said; “Danny is one of the most exciting and imaginative commissioners in television with a string of groundbreaking shows under his belt in the space of a few short years. The best film-makers in the country love working with him and I'm confident he'll help make Channel 4 the best creative partner for anyone with great talent or a great idea."

Horan joins from the BBC where he has been Commissioning Editor for Documentaries since 2015. He has commissioned award-winning Hospital, Louis Theroux’s Dark States, Ambulance, Generation Gifted and Murdered For Being Different, amongst many other series and single films across BBC one, TWO and three. Prior to joining the BBC Horan was an executive producer at Voltage TV and The Garden. His documentary credits include; The Audience, Louis Theroux: America’s Medicated Kids, Inside Tatler, The Tube and Benefit Busters.

Last month Katz announced the appointments of Kelly Webb-Lamb as Deputy Director of Programmes and Louisa Compton as Commissioning Editor of Dispatches.

Channel 4 is currently recruiting for a Head of Features and a Head of Factual Entertainment, both roles will report into Webb-Lamb, and recruiting for a Head of Specialist Factual, to report into Horan.
