Dr Christian Jessen

As well as presenting Embarrassing Bodies, Dr Christian is also the presenter of the critically acclaimed Embarrassing Bodies: Live From The Clinic, Supersize V Superskinny and The Ugly Face of Beauty.

He is also a health campaigner, often giving talks at medical conferences and working closely with health charities to help find new ways to educate and raise awareness about important health issues.

As a writer, Dr Christian is a columnist for Closer, Top Sante and Attitude and he also has a weekly health column in the Evening Standard.  He has also written two books, Can I Just Ask? (Hay House, 2010) and Supersize V Superskinny (Transworld, 2008)

Dr Christian graduated in 2000 from UCL, having trained in general medicine, infectious disease, travel medicine and sexual health/HIV. He is an alumnus of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine after his post-graduate study there.  He has lived in Kenya and Uganda where he researched malaria and HIV interactions in children and he now works in Harley Street, looking after general medicine and sexual health patients.

Dr Christian was born and lives in London. He enjoys foreign travel, working out in the gym, music and art. He is also an accomplished oboist, performing publicly from time to time..

 

Dr Pixie McKenna

Dr Pixie works as a GP and divides her time between her home town of Cork - where she runs her own practice, handed down to her from her father - and her London clinic in Baker Street.

Throughout her general practice career she has held NHS posts in Dermatology and Sexual Health at large London teaching hospitals. She also holds post graduate qualifications in Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Dermatology and Paediatrics.

Her media career began in 2006 when she was asked to be the onscreen doctor in BBC3s Freaky Eaters series, the second series of which aired in early 2008.  As well as presenting Embarrassing Bodies, Pixie spends her time writing her columns for the Irish Mail, Mizz Magazine, Zest and Best magazines. She is also regularly asked to contribute to More and Cosmopolitan magazines.  Pixie released her first book, Handbag Doctor, through Kyle Cathie books in 2010.

Dr Pixie also contributes weekly to the Ray D'Arcy radio show in Cork. When she's not busy with her clinical commitments and media work, Pixie can be found strolling, punting or cycling around her UK base Cambridge or sailing around the west coast of Cork.

 

Dr Dawn Harper

Dr. Dawn is a GP based in Gloucestershire.  She works at an NHS Surgery in Stroud and also runs private clinics focusing on women's health and menstrual disorders.  Dawn has been working as a media doctor for six years and her ability to simplify complex medical issues has made her an extremely sought after medical commentator and expert.

As well as presenting Embarrassing Bodies, Dawn also presents  Embarrassing Bodies: Live from the Clinic  which was first shown on C4 in summer 2011 and featured live consultations given to patients in the comfort of their own homes.   

 

Dawn is a regular contributor on ITV1's This Morning and Woman's Hour on Radio 4.    She also writes for a variety of publications including Healthspan , Healthy Food Guide, Healthy and Mother and Baby magazine.  

Her first book Dr Dawn's Health Check was published in 2007 by Mitchell Beazley. 

 

Dr James Logan

As well as presenting on Embarrassing Bodies, Dr James will also be appearing on the DMAX television show Squeamish.  James makes regular appearances on other popular shows including BBCs The One Show and Bang Goes the Theory, The Discovery Channels Weird Connections, and many more. He also makes regular appearances on television news channels, radio and in print media as a scientific expert.

James has a first class honours degree and an award-winning PhD. He is an internationally renowned research leader and lecturer at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. A recently elected Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society, James specialises in parasites and entomology, and he has a broad range of expertise and knowledge including travel health, chemistry and biology and in the lab he is certainly no stranger to self-experimentation! As a keen conservationist and traveller, James' contributions to volunteer projects around the globe include protecting and monitoring primates, turtles and endangered marsupials in Costa Rica, Northern Cyprus and the South Australian outback.

James follows in the scientific footsteps of his Scottish ancestor Kirkpatrick Macmillan, the inventor of the modern bicycle, and has invented several insect control products which are under development.

James is a regular author in science books and high impacting scientific journals including the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. He also writes articles for popular, local and educational magazines.

James was born in Edinburgh in Scotland, but now lives in London. He is also a fitness fanatic and is currently training for the Edinburgh marathon. One of James' hobbies is documentary filmmaking.
