Tired of being the little assistant, Alex Horne finally has the chance to pitch his very own TV show to Channel 4. Having been granted permission by Greg Davies, Alex wants to be the leading man of a new late night music chat show, The Horne Section TV Show, filmed live from his family home. With the help of his loyal and much more talented band, rehearsals get underway while family friend Thora tries to relax in the spare room next door.
Episode 2:
Show time is fast approaching, and despite not being able to actually sing, plans are afoot for Alex’s starring role in his brand-new music chat show pilot. Alex and the band are rushing to be ready in time while Martin Kemp demands to sing an original song, Nelly, the runner, attempts to levitate, Anneka Rice appears, and John Oliver is the only person desperate to be on the show.
Episode 3:
Despite overwhelming backlash on Twitter from the pilot, Alex Horne and The Horne Section are still trying to make their tv show in Alex's house. Dr Ranj Singh stars as the special guest and he’s eager to talk about his new car. Will the show win over the youth and please the bosses at Channel 4? And has the trumpeter got magical powers?
Episode 4:
The Horne Section TV Show is well and truly underway, although the big bosses at Channel 4 have instructed Alex and the band to be more edgy in an attempt to appeal to a younger audience. Ready to do whatever it takes to have his own show, Alex is thrown by some unexpected news about his wife Rachel but tries to keep it together and carry on with the show to please the TV execs. Unfortunately, the bassist is stuck in Alex's warehouse as they're about to go live with this week's special guest, Big Zuu.
Episode 5:
Thora decides to pack her bags and head back to America to produce her new movie. With the show now in desperate need of a producer, Ash puts Lucy in charge, despite her not being able to actually produce. Always keen to be involved, John Oliver calls in a few favours and secures a live performance from Imogen Heap who appears alongside popular tribute band The Horne Selection. Still feeling the pressure to impress Channel 4, Alex makes more and more demands of the band. Will his trusted musical mates put up with his ridiculous requests?
Episode 6:
Feeling lonely, Alex tries to repair his broken friendships and in a last-ditch attempt to make the series work calls on celebrity psychologist Ken to help get the band back together. Ken psychoanalyses Alex and the band whilst keeping his own ulterior motives under wraps. He’s not the only person on set with something to hide as Lucy’s television production credentials and true identity are put under question. Luckily, Thora returns from the U.S., and as the only competent person involved with the show, tries to make their final episode the best one yet.
