Episode Synopsis
Category: News ReleaseEpisode 2 - The Wedding
Checking in this week are Tom and Susanna who arrive at the Damson Dene a couple of weeks before their wedding to make sure everything is in place. Susanna is five and a half months pregnant and Tom's grandmother has been very ill so there is no time to lose.
Even though he lives alone in a caravan with his dog, Fly, Hotel Manager, Wayne, is a bit of a romantic. So he loves to put on the perfect wedding, in one of the three civil ceremony rooms; the Princess Suite, The Heron View and the Lounge. The Hotel's owner, Jonathan, depends on weddings to keep the hotel afloat, so both insist on giving the bride and groom their dream day.
Whenever there is a wedding, most pressure falls on chef, Kirk, and his Polish kitchen staff. Catering for 80 people puts everyone under stress and the added language barrier can really turn the heat up.
When their big day arrives, the first signs of trouble arise when the toilet in Tom and Susanna's bridal suite stops working and Tom turns to brandy to calm his nerves. When the Best Man goes too far in his speech and the service from the kitchen starts to break down, disaster threatens. Can Kirk get the kitchen running smoothly and can Wayne keep the wedding guests happy?
Episode 1 - The Proposal
Checking in this week are Dan and Liz - a happy young couple from Essex away for a quiet break. What Liz doesn't know is that Dan has brought her here to ask for her hand in marriage. He thinks he's found the perfect spot to pop the question - the bridge over the Hotel's duck pond - and asks manager Wayne to hide in the bushes with a chilled bottle of champagne. As the day progresses, anticipation builds as Dan's nerves steadily grow.
Will she say yes?
Brian and Julie are still in love after 49 years of marriage but their happiness is hanging by a thread. Brian is waiting for the results of a crucial test for cancer. The loving couple tries not to dwell on it, focusing instead on enjoying their break. But as the test result comes in, they both know that this could be their last holiday together.
Meanwhile, behind-the-scenes at the Hotel, latest East European recruit is general assistant, Amos, who has fled to the Lake District from Romania, dreaming of a better life. Despite being willing and eager to please, he seems unable to get anything right. Manager Wayne can't decide if he should take him under his wing, or suggest he return home to the life he dreamed of escaping.
