The Factual Entertainment commissioners are responsible for commissioning returnable entertaining formats and pop doc series for weekdays at 9pm and 10pm.

We already have a world class roster of talent featuring Heston Blumenthal, Gordon Ramsay, Kevin McCloud, Mary Portas, Jamie Oliver, Jimmy Doherty and Hilary Devey and we are always open to new ideas for existing and new on-screen talent.

New programmes pitched must be accessible, entertaining and purposeful. These will often be factual formats such as Undercover Boss, the forthcoming Hotel Britannia, Jewish Mum of the Year and Hilary Devey's Interns or pop doc series such as My Big Fat Gyspy Wedding, The Undateables, Gordon Behind Bars and 15 Kids and Counting. We want new original ideas for returnable factual formats. Access to either individuals or public institutions is crucially important especially when matched with a brilliant idea or way in. Subject areas that are traditionally at 8pm, the heartlands of Channel 4 Features, could potentially be be done differently and with a narrative at 9pm such as The Hoarder Next Door.

We also commission entertaining pop docs at 22:00 such as My Phone Sex Secrets, Secrets of the Shoplifters and My Daughter the Teenage Nudist.

Key areas are health, beauty & body image, parenting, good business, shopping & retail, diversity, fashion, and sex. We focus on broad issues that are popular, carry public service values and are also mischievous and counterintuitive in approach.
