Final star-studded line up confirmed for Celebrity Gogglebox for Stand Up To Cancer

Category: News Release

The multi award-winning Gogglebox returns once again with a very special celebrity edition for Stand Up To Cancer. England and Leeds United footballer Kalvin Phillips and musician Aitch are the final famous faces joining the famous sofa tonight as part of Channel 4 and Cancer Research UK’s Stand Up To Cancer spectacular.

This very special edition of the ever-popular TV review programme will see Kalvin and Aitch join other famous faces including Graham Norton, Michelle Visage, Aisling Bea, Rob Delaney, Michael Sheen, his partner Anna Lundberg, Suranne Jones, Adam James, Matt Lucas and his mum Diana as they pass judgement on a vast array of TV goodness. Between their own cutting remarks, tears and laughter will be the views of Britain’s favourite opinionated viewers; the regular Gogglebox households including best friends Jenny and Lee, Blackpool brother and sister Pete and Sophie, South London partners Marcus and Mica and the Siddiqui family.

Kalvin Phillips said, “At a time when cancer affects more of us than ever before, we really need to pull together. Team rivalries aside, I’m really looking forward to watching telly with Aitch and hope we can help raise as much money as possible for Stand Up To Cancer.”

Aitch said “I spent a lot of my time in lockdown watching Gogglebox so it’s going to be very surreal being on one of the famous sofas. Despite the fact he plays for Leeds, it’ll be great fun kicking back with Kalvin, especially for such a great cause like Stand Up To Cancer… but we’ll be keeping football chat well out of it!”

Suranne Jones said, Cancer affects way too many of us and the work being done by the Stand Up To Cancer campaign is incredible, so Adam and I are delighted to be involved.”

Adam James said, “As a longstanding fan of the show, I am thrilled to be joining the esteemed list of Stand Up To Cancer Goggleboxers alongside the marvellous Suranne. With one in two of us developing cancer in our lifetime, it’s so important for us to all join together raising vital funds and really make a difference.”

Graham Norton said, “Cancer keeps robbing us of the most wonderful people so it’s an honour for Michelle & me to be taking our places on the hallowed Gogglebox sofa for this year’s Stand Up To Cancer campaign. I dread to think what we’ll end up watching but it’s safe to say, some shade will be thrown.”

Michelle Visage said, “I love Gogglebox and I adore Graham Norton, so this is my idea of sheer heaven. I lost both my adoptive and biological mothers to this awful disease so it’s incredibly important to me to support the amazing work Stand Up To Cancer do. Every penny raised goes towards finding cures for cancer so I hope we can help raise bucketloads of money.”

Matt Lucas said, “Mum & I love Gogglebox so we’re extremely chuffed to be on the sofa together in support of the brilliant Stand Up To Cancer.”

Aisling Bea said, "I am more than happy to be supporting Stand Up To Cancer, a disease which has touched too many people including my loved ones. It's especially necessary this year given how much strain health services and workers have been under during the pandemic. It's been a rotten couple of years; I hope what we raise can help take even a small bit of the edge off."

In recent years, the famous sofa dwellers supporting the campaign have included Naomi Campbell, Noel Gallagher, Line of Duty stars Vicky McClure, Adrian Dunbar and Martin Compston, Abbey Clancy, Peter Crouch, Steve Pemberton, Reece Shearsmith, Steve Coogan, Liam Gallagher, Freddie Flintoff, Jamie Dornan, Ed Sheeran, Big Narstie, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Danny and Dani Dyer.

On Friday 15th October at 7.30pm, Davina McCall, Alan Carr, Adam Hills and Maya Jama will host a glittering night of live TV as famous faces from the world of sport, film, music and comedy come together to Stand Up To Cancer. Joe Lycett will be putting his Maths GCSE to good use, totting up the totaliser throughout the night and explaining how the money raised will be spent on life-saving cancer research. The night will also include appearances from the likes of Usain Bolt, Olivia Colman, Liam Payne, James Blunt, The Jonas Brothers, Rosie Jones, The Derry Girls, Liam Gallagher, Jack Black, Stephen Mangan, Sigrid, David Oyelowo, Martin Freeman, Peter Crouch, Jamie Oliver, Tom Parker, Roman Kemp and Dermot Kennedy.
