First night of First Dates prompts over 1,000 applications

Category: News Release

In the last twelve hours, following the broadcast of the first episode of brand new interactive observational documentary series First Dates, over 1,050 men have applied to date one of the contributors - 23-year-old cheerleading and dance coach Fayhe M from Lancashire.

First Dates features people from all walks of life, from around the country, who are looking for love. Using a fixed-rig, the series films brand new couples each week in a unique restaurant – where everyone is on their first date. The key twist to the series is that some of the unsuccessful daters are able to appeal to the nation. They ask the viewing public to put themselves forward as their potential next date, by applying on channel4.com/firstdates.

In last night’s programme, viewers watched Fayhe  date 26-year-old ex-soldier Will from Hertfordshire. The documentary captured every detail from the first time they clapped eyes on each other to Fayhe’s mid-date discussion in the ladies with a fellow dater and some of Will’s crude comments which left Fayhe decidedly single… and on the lookout for her next date.

Today, Fayhe is sifting through the shortlisted applicants. She will make her decision about who to date tomorrow night  - and who will appear in the next First Dates episode airing next Thursday 27th June at 10pm. Viewers have also had the opportunity to apply to date Ben H, a 36-year-old Creative Director/Founder and Edmund K, a 45-year-old entrepreneur from Croydon.
