Fresh Meat wins South Bank Award

Category: News Release

It's a long way from a filthy student house in Rusholme to the plush opulence of London's Dorchester Hotel, but yesterday the two worlds collided (they didn't really, but it sort of works well for our intro) as the brilliant Fresh Meat won the South Bank Award for Best Comedy. The awards show was in The Dorchester, you see. And Fresh Meat is set in the student house in Rusholme, Manchester. This isn't going well. This release itself probably won't win any awards.

Anyoldhow, it brings the number of awards now won by Fresh Meat to, er, loads. Awards (or ‘gongs' as we media types like to refer to them for some inexplicable reason) the show has already won include Best New Comedy at the British Comedy Awards; two RTS Awards, for Best Comedy Writer and Best Scripted Comedy; an NME Award for Best TV Show; a LAFTA for Best TV Show; and a MASA Award for Best Use of Music in a TV Show. The series has also been nominated for two BAFTAs, the YouTube Audience Award, and Best Situation Comedy.

Fresh Meat is also hotly tipped to win the Booker Prize, a World Cheese Award, and the Nobel Prize for Physics.

Series 2 of Fresh Meat will be on Channel 4 later in 2012.
