Gok Wan has built a reputation for showing women how to look and feel fantastic, no matter what their body shape, in his inspirational Channel 4 fashion series, How To Look Good Naked.
Now Deputy Head of Features Andrew Jackson has commissioned a new 4 x 60 series from Maverick Television, provisionally called Gok's Teens: The Naked Truth (w/t), which will follow the fashion guru as he turns his attention to the nation's teens.
As a teenager, Gok had his own problems with body image and confidence, and in this new series, he will draw on his personal experience to help give teen contributors the advice, confidence and self belief they need to tackle their issues and anxieties.
In contrast to How To Look Good Naked, Gok's Teens will be more observational documentary in style, with a more in-depth focus on contributors and their stories.
In addition to a focus on the contributor and their story, the series will feature strands designed to drive home Gok's message about positive body image, as well as giving an audience of all ages essential take home information.
Gok's Teens is an opportunity for Britain's teenagers to talk frankly - amongst themselves and with adults - about their issues and bodies.
The series will be made by Executive Producer Andrew Anderson (How To Look Good Naked, Ten Years Younger) and series producer is Debb Swindells.
Deputy Head of Channel 4 Features, Andrew Jackson, said: "From spots and bulling to coming out and weight issues, being a teenager has always been tough. But with social media amplifying every small detail today's teens feel under ever increasing pressure. After his own complex adolescence there's no one more in tune with teens than Gok to document and hopefully help with the highs and lows of their everyday lives."
