Gok Wan reveals his budget guide to fashion in new series

Category: News Release

Channel 4 has commissioned Remarkable Television, an Endemol company, to produce a budget edition of Gok's Clothes RoadShow.

The weekly topical consumer series will broadcast in the early autumn on Channel 4.

From supermarket chic to the latest affordable trends on the high street, Gok Wan is coming to the rescue of cash strapped Britain to show us how to look fabulous without spending a fortune.

Out with the designer labels and in with the budget brands, Gok's Clothes RoadShow will be the ultimate guide to achieving this autumn's look from as little as £50. Gok will be sourcing everything from the supermarkets and the high street, pushing his trolley up the shopping aisles and finding the latest bargains available in store.

In each episode of this 5x60 minute series, Gok will be taking his pop-up catwalk on the road, showcasing his purse-friendly pieces with a Budget vs High Street catwalk challenge. He'll create entire outfits for around £50.

The makeovers in Gok's budget boutique will be high on style and low on cost; his haberdashery tricks of the trade get the superscrimper treatment as he shows viewers how to look bang up to date for just a few pennies. Plus, each week the series will put the latest fashion must-have through the consumer mangle to find out which high street store does the latest look for the best price and best quality in the battle of the brands.

All of this will be done in his inimitable style - as Gok turns up in a different city each week to put on a spectacular catwalk show.  Will his cut-price collection win over the crowds?

Plus Gok will be surprising three local ladies at each stop of his roadshow where the deserving group of friends will be treated to a fashion makeover with help and input from each other!

Colette Foster, Managing Director of Remarkable Television, comments: "From supermarket fashion to cheap chic from the high street, Gok will be showing viewers how to save money on their wardrobe without compromising on style. In a prolonged economic downturn, there has never been a better time to offer invaluable advice to women who want to look great without going over budget."

The 5 x 60 minute series was commissioned by Channel 4 Features Editor Katie Boyd and will be executive produced by Colette Foster and Kitty Walshe and series producer by Flora Fenton.
