Grand Designs: House Of The Year to return to C4 for a fourth season
Category: News ReleaseGrand Designs: House of the Year will return to Channel 4 for a fourth time later this year.
Kevin McCloud, Damion Burrows and Michelle Ogundehin will explore the 2018 longlist of homes, all vying for the accolade of being named RIBA’s House of the Year.
The team will explore some of Britain’s most architecturally daring homes, revealing the secrets of their construction and explaining the design merits of each building.
Travelling all over the UK, they will visit the owners and architects to uncover the secrets of designing and building a truly inspirational home. The winner will be announced in the last episode.
Kevin McCloud added: ‘It’s very exciting to be back for a fourth season of Grand Designs: House of the Year with more architectural rich pickings from the very best new homes in the country. Each year we plot how these exemplars are shaping the architectural landscape of the country and our time as we approach the end of the second decade of the 21st century. I say this because although these homes are sometimes expensive and ambitious, they contain ideas and innovation that will help shape the volume housing of the next twenty years. An important reason to watch the series.’
John Comerford, Head of Boundless West and Executive Producer said: ‘We are thrilled to be able to showcase the UK’s most spectacular new homes and to meet the people and inspiration behind them.’
David Sayer, Head of Daytime at Channel 4 said: ‘This series gives viewers a peek into the homes at the forefront of modern British architecture. It is a real celebration of the imagination, innovation and design that have created these wonderful hidden gems.’
Ben Derbyshire, President of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) said: ‘I am delighted that Grand Designs: House of the Year has been recommissioned for its fourth year. This is a great opportunity to showcase excellence in housing, and raise the bar for quality residential design. The series, I hope, will continue to inspire architects and clients by exploring a range of projects from smaller-scale home extensions to entire ‘dream homes’ expertly designed by talented architects across the UK.’
Grand Designs: House of the Year is a 4 x 60’ part series produced by Boundless (part of the FremantleMedia UK). It was commissioned by David Sayer, Head of Daytime, Channel 4. Boundless’ Executive Producer is John Comerford, Head of Boundless West & Factual Features.
