Richard Pitt (STEPHEN MANGAN)
Psychologist Richard Pitt is trying to start a new online therapy business venture from home, but with a seemingly forever increasing family roster and unwelcome distractions, will it be a success?
Karen Muller (KATHERINE PARKINSON)
Chief breadwinner to the Pitt tribe, Karen, is dealing with a demanding job, 2 kids & their ever present significant other(s), whilst trying to maintain the order that her husband Richard seems intent on disrupting.
Adebewole ‘Abs’ Walters (JOHN MACMILLAN)
Abs is Karen’s right-hand man. Dealing with everything from travel itineraries, to Richard’s Vasectomy appointment. Abs is super capable, keen to please, and desperate to Karaoke with Richard.
Pete Thompson (KARL THEOBALD)
Pete is Richard’s best (and possibly only) friend. Spending most of his time in the Pitt household, man-child Pete devotes his time to helping Richard however he can, with varying degrees of success.
Neil Quinn (STEVE ORAM)
Unnerving and absolutely psychotic, Neil Quinn is the businessman (loan shark) Richard decided to borrow money from. Now he wants to get it back and has some unusual though admittedly inventive ways of doing so.
Celia Cain (ALICE LOWE)
Celia is Richard’s clinical supervisor, she calls on Richard from time to time to make sure he is employing the best possible professional practice. Problematically for Richard, she seems to check in at the most inopportune moments.
Leonard Conrad (RICHARD E. GRANT)
Leonard Conrad is Richard’s therapist, somewhat of a father figure, and convinced of Richard’s anal fixation.
Jon Pitt (CONLETH HILL)
Richard’s older brother Jon has two loves…Mummy, and the military. If contactable he’ll often turn up unannounced with a flurry of drama at his back, ready to deal with a situation he deems Richard incapable of fixing.
Katherine Pitt (JESSICA HYNES)
Katherine is the youngest of the three Pitt siblings. A novelist living with her “flat-mate” Chrissie, she is totally self-absorbed and uninterested in helping Richard or her mother in any way.
Maggie Pitt (CELIA IMRIE)
Maggie, mother to Jon, Richard, and Katherine hasn’t just fallen off the wagon but seems to have thrown herself from it. Lucky for Richard, the family decide she should move in with him!
Jose Duran (JAVIER MARZAN)
After a thorough 15-second interview, Richard hires Jose to be Maggie’s live-in carer. He takes the role very seriously and is eager to please, mostly because he’s never actually cared for anyone before.
Jeremy Pitt (CHARLES DANCE)
Richard’s father Jeremy is not best pleased when he receives a call about his ex-wife falling off the wagon. He instructs Richard to “deal with it”.
Issy Pitt (BEBE CAVE)
Issy is Richard’s daughter, and when she’s not discussing the intricacies of sexual fluidity and biscuit nibbling heterosexuals with her girlfriend Zahra, she’s probably with her boyfriend Nathan, or her lover Dylan.
Ricky Pitt (FIONN O’SHEA)
Ricky pines for the attention of his parents Richard and Karen but seems to constantly be juggling the dramas of his older sister Issy and his best mates Liam and Dylan.
Dylan Parks (KAINE ZAJAZ)
Dylan is one of Ricky’s best mates and a semi-permanent resident of the Pitt household.
Liam Donohoe (JAMES STERNDALE)
Liam spends 50% of his time smoking weed and the other 50% eating the Pitt household out of their food supplies. Ricky and Liam are inseparable.
Zahra Alsaadi (ANJANA VASAN)
Zahra is Issy’s on-again off-again girlfriend. They are equally obsessed with social media and their whole relationship is plastered over it.
Ryan Mehta (ARSHER ALI)
Ryan is Richard’s hapless financial advisor, and his last hope.
Nathan Slater (HARRY LLOYD)
Richard is quick to praise media lecturer Nathan for managing to pull off dating one of his 19-year-old students, until he finds out that the student in question is someone he knows far too well.
Werner Lienhard (PAUL RITTER)
Werner is Global CEO of Geneflex and is Karen’s impossibly charming, and equally inappropriate, German boss.
Fiona Bellingham (SARAH HADLAND)
Fiona is one of Richard’s clients who along with hang ups about her ‘baldy tuppence’, fears what impact her husband’s affair with a parliamentary intern will have on their political career.
Terry Sparkes (KEVIN ELDON)
Five years ago, Terry won 148.2 million pounds on the Euro lottery and it's brought him nothing but misery and dissatisfaction. Cash-strapped Richard gets to talk him through this in therapy.
Jane Ross (DAISY HAGGARD)
Everything seems to be going wrong with her life…But she doesn’t let that get her down! She is Richard’s happiest unhappiest client.
Alison Jones (MONICA DOLAN)
Despite years of work with Richard, Alison has been unable to shake the emotional shock of losing Princess Diana that fateful night in Paris…20 years ago.
Angie Henderson (LOLLY ADEFOPE)
Angie is a millennial IT worker and Web Editor at a malfunctioning start-up. She can’t quite understand the point of the therapy sessions if she can’t Instagram it?
Martin Lamb (DAVID TENNANT)
Martin seeks Richard’s help when the pressure of leaving the cloak room to act sommelier for the evening becomes too much for him. Perhaps some of Richard’s role-playing techniques might give him the confidence to step up.
