Hollyoaks is enjoying a scorching summer, keeping viewers gripped and coming back for more, as it enjoys strong viewing for the start of July with figures up +21% YOY alongside a growth in 16-34 viewing of +8% YoY. These figures contain Channel 4 viewing in the previous 12 months, reflecting that Hollyoaks viewership has continued to flourish, following the move to become a digital first show.

VOD figures have also helped the youth-skewing soap’s growth, increasing over +50% YOY and in addition, E4 share has increased +18% in the same period.

In the first week of July, the digital-first soap’s share was up +61% YoY [474k / 3.48%] on E4.

These viewing highs have been driven by an array of new and established storylines, including the ongoing, sensitive sibling sexual abuse storyline, coupled with the adrenalin- filled, edge of your seat drama that has been brought to the screen with Executive Producer, Hannah Cheers, at the helm.

It’s an exciting time for Channel 4’s flagship soap as it prepares to shake up its schedule this autumn. Hollyoaks will jump-forward a year when it moves to three-episodes weekly in September with further details of the schedule switch-up coming soon.

Ben Wadey, Channel 4 Commissioning Executive for Hollyoaks says:
