Here we catch up with Gemma Bissix, who plays her, for a gossip about her favourite ‘Oaks moments from the past and those yet to come…

Who do you play?

Clare Devine

How would you describe the character you play?

She’s a psycho bitch with a serious (do not mess) screw loose…

How exciting is it to be reprising this role?

I’m so excited. Clare is one of the BEST characters I’ve ever played and she hasn’t changed one bit.

Are you anything like them in real life?

Haha, I’d like to think not, but my boyfriend might not agree!

What’s been your favourite scene to shoot in Hollyoaks over the years?

All the scenes in the log cabin with Max and Tom, when OB punched Clare was epic! It was such a stand-out moment for me.

And your worst?

I had to do a naked shower scene once, washing blood off me. I was so nervous about it and they never used it in the end – typical!

How bad do you think Clare can go this time round?

I don’t think there are any limits to how evil Clare can be.

Who is the hottest cast member?

Jennifer Metcalfe who plays Mercedes, no question! Nick Pickard (Tony) is also looking hot right now because he’s training for the London Marathon.

Have you ever given anyone a Hollyoaks calendar as a present?

Yes, I gave one to my best friend because she loves Hollyoaks, haha.

Do you ever use your job to jump queues for bars, clubs etc?

I’ve only done it once for my friend’s birthday. I got us a queue jump because the line was massive. We still paid to get in though.

Do you ever get sent any weird fan mail?

I got a fan letter from a guy in prison once who actually thought Clare was real – scary.

What’s your favourite joke?

All the jokes I know are too rude to print here. Clare isn’t really known for her sense of humour either.

Who’s your best mate in the cast?

Nick Pickard, James Sutton who plays John Paul and Jimmy McKenna who plays Jack. I actually stay with Nick and Jimmy when I’m up in Liverpool.

Who’s the worst in the cast for inappropriate laughter?

Me and Ashley Taylor Dawson who plays Darren always have a proper laugh on set. We are just as bad as each other.

Who’s the worst for forgetting lines?

Everyone has a fluff here and there but on the whole no one forgets them.

What’s the best thing about being in Hollyoaks?

All the crew - that is without a shadow of a doubt the best thing about working here. It’s like a proper family and I’m glad I get to work with them again.

What’s the worst?

Early mornings and wearing far too much makeup.
