King or Queen of Comedy nominations revealed & voting lines open

Category: News Release

Winner revealed live on the night; 12th December, Ch 4, from 9pm

The 24th British Comedy Awards are hurtling towards us and will see stellar nominees including Mel and Sue, Ant & Dec, Adam Hills, James Corden and Miranda Hart, plus other stars of the British comedy comos, jostling for an award.

But it is the coveted title of King or Queen of Comedy that is today’s hot topic. Just who will be the newest member of the Royal Family of funny? Who will spend the next year luxuriating in laughter from their comedy castle?  Will current King Jack Whitehall keep his crown or be booted from the Throne of Fun? Only you, British public, can decide!

The King or Queen is the only category at the prestigious Awards where the public chooses the winner and voting opens today, 27th November at 11am.

The winner will be announced live on by incumbent king Jack Whitehall with voting running right up until approximately 10pm on the night. This year we can exclusively reveal that that Jack Whitehall will be valiantly defending his comedy crown against 2011’s Queen of Comedy, Sarah Millican, co-star of Peep Show, Ambassadors and Was It Something I Said presenter David Mitchell, not one but two chat show supremos Alan Carr and Graham Norton and BAFTA-winning comedian and multi-award winning stand up Lee Mack.

Comedy fans can vote for their favourite comedy personality by calling 09020 50 58 and selecting 01 for Alan Carr, 02 for David Mitchell, 03 for Graham Norton, 04 for Jack Whitehall, 05 for Lee Mack and 06 for Sarah Millican.
