The Mad Bad Ad Show, coming soon to Channel 4
Category: News ReleaseMadeleine Knight, Commissioning Editor, Entertainment, Channel 4
The Mad Bad Ad Show is a brand new 45 minute studio based comedy entertainment pilot from Objective Productions that lifts the lid off the advertising world. The show aims to get behind all the perfect promos, publicity and puff that we have pushed in our faces every day and find out exactly how we, the public, are persuaded to buy, buy and buy.
The show features two competing teams, led by the comedians Micky Flanagan and Mark Watson who will each be paired with a leading advertising industry insider who will provide a genuine insight into the mysterious and murky world of marketing.
Going beyond the traditional question and answer games of the common or garden panel show, The Mad Bad Ad Show brings together an original mix of Fact Ent challenges, panel show banter and documentary insight. It involves classic adverts, funny adverts from overseas, and even adverts made especially by the teams for the show.
The MBA show (as absolutely no one is calling it) is being made by Objective Productions, producers of award winning hit comedy shows such as John Bishop's Britain, Star Stories and Peep Show.
Channel 4's Commissioning Editor for Entertainment Madeleine Knight said: 'We all connect with famous ads but we don't always know why. Why do drum-playing gorillas make you buy chocolate or meerkats sell insurance? In this new panel show, Micky Flanagan and Mark Watson join some of the ad industry's biggest names to examine the science of adverts and come up with some ads of their own for impossible-to-sell products.'
Executive Producer Lee Hupfield said 'It's about advertising. So it's going to be absolutely amazing. I wouldn't lie to you, would I?'
The pilot was commissioned by Madeleine Knight and Executive Producers for Objective Productions are Lee Hupfield and Paul Gilheany. Series Producer is Chris Sussman.
The Mad Bad Ad Show pilot will be filmed in July.
