Mark Price appointed Deputy Chairman of Channel 4 Board

Mark Price has today been named by Ofcom as Deputy Chairman of the Channel 4 Board, whilst Stewart Purvis is appointed as a non-executive member.

Mark Price has been a non-executive member of the Board since October 2010 and has been appointed for a three-year term. He is Managing Director of Waitrose and Deputy Chairman of the John Lewis Partnership, Chair of The Prince's Rural Action Programme and Chairman of Business In The Community.

Stewart is Professor of Television Journalism at City University London. Between 2007 and 2010 he was Partner for Content and Standards at Ofcom, and prior to this held the position of Chief Executive of ITN for eight years.

In addition to these appointments, existing non-executives of the Board Alicja Lesniak, Monica Burch and Richard Rivers have been reappointed for three years.

Colette Bowe, Chairman of Ofcom, said: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Price as Deputy Chairman and Stewart Purvis as a new member of the Channel 4 Board. They both bring considerable depth of experience and will further strengthen the Board.”
