EPISODE TWO

Donna and Louise versus Sarah
Louise (40)
and Donna (30) from Lancashire, have been married for 4 years and are currently going through NHS-funded IVF treatment to start a family. They've struggled to save for a family home and like many others yearn to be part of a community where people look after each other and feel Grassington could be the answer to their prayers. The couple want a small community where they can raise a child in safety. Louise is a tiler by trade and if they win she would like to set up a business in the village.

Sarah, aged 42, has two children Aysha aged 17 and Sol aged 9. They live in Glastonbury so are accustomed to a country lifestyle. Sarah works as and artist's life model to support her family, drives a motorcycle and is not afraid to say what she thinks.

EPISODE THREE

Steph and Jay versus Kate and Corwen

Steph and Jay, aged 26 and 29 respectively, are married with a daughter Lorelei, son Leo and a third baby on the way. They live in Rushden and hope a move to Grassington will give them their ‘happily ever after'.  Jay, works as a salesman and Steph is an aspiring writer. The family admit to living "the champagne lifestyle on a lemonade budget" and like to colour coordinate their outfits. A mortgage free life would help them maintain the lavish lifestyle they crave.  They're keen to put down roots for their brood and hope being a young family will be a plus in the eyes of the villagers.

Corwen (38) and Kate (41) are new age travellers who have lived without mod cons for the last 20 years. But their caravan on farmland in Dorset soon faces eviction. Corwen makes Viking musical instruments and both are keen folk musicians. After years of living miles from the nearest neighbour, what the couple crave is not necessarily bricks and mortar, but a sense of community.

Newlyweds Sunny and Anoop, aged 29 and 28, both have Indian heritage but were born and raised in London. Sunny has a PhD in Education from Oxford and works as a business coach, but dreams of realising her true passion - becoming a children's author.. Anoop has a PHD in astrophysics and currently works in the City. A move to Grassington would allow them to leave their city jobs and start a family.  Having both grown up in inner city flats without gardens, they want a country life for their future children.

Vicky and Andy are 22 and 25 years old. They've been together 4 years but both still live at home with their parents in Surrey while they save up to get married. Andy runs his own window cleaning business. Vicky works on a beauty counter: she "loves hair and nails", but is also a trained Latin ballroom dancer. Winning the cottage would allow this young working class couple to get married and start a family

Italian husband and wife Lello 44 and Anna, 46, are tired of city life and currently live in a small flat in South West London with their two children Nina (12) and Thea (7). These parents yearn to give their children a lifestyle akin to their own in rural Italy, where there is little crime and children can wander freely. Lello runs his own design consultancy business, and Anna is a spiritual and holistic healer who hopes to bring Colour Therapy to Grassington.

Craig and Dean, 31 and 40, have been married for several years and currently live in Bradford with their three dogs Venus, Pebbles and Nelly. Craig is a professional violinist on cruise ships and Dean is a hairdresser. If they were to win the cottage and move to Grassington Craig would like to become a violin teacher and Dean would like to start up a dog grooming business. Dean comes from a farming family and has always dreamt of returning to the countryside.

Paul and Andrea, aged 53 and 52, are a semi-retired couple from Bradford who have been married for nearly 30 years and have two grown up children. They hope a move to Grassington will enable them to devote time and energy to one of their passions - charity work. But with this loveable local couple, all is not as it seems... Paul came out to his family ten years ago as a transvestite. After recovering from the initial shock, Paul's wife and kids now accept his alter ego "Linda" as another member of the family.

Model turned beauty therapist Laura sees a move to Grassington as the opportunity of a lifetime for her and her son Solomon, aged 9. A home of their own is beyond this single Mum's reach, and she would love to provide her son with a secure, idyllic childhood - streets where he can run freely and not worry about crime. The pair currently live in Worcester. It's not only the home Laura craves, but a sense of community.

EPISODE ONE

Nicky and Steve versus Simone and Phillip
Partners Nicky (48) and Steve (49), are an unmarried couple who want to move to Grassington with Nicky's three teenage children to escape Birmingham, the ‘grey faceless city' they currently call home. Nicky, formerly a solicitor and Steve, a carpenter and builder, crave a sense of community. They feel Birmingham has become "a series of ghettos" and yearn for a safe and more "traditional" way of life. Nicky hopes a small chocolate box village in the Dales might be a place where she finally feels safe. Steve is a Yorkshireman keen to return to his roots. Nicky hopes to win over the locals with her baking, and Steve with his carpentry skills, good looks, and Yorkshire charm.

Simone and Phillip, both 35, also have three children, Lewis (7), Joel (4) and Elliot (3). They currently live in South London, and are worried about "raising three black boys in a city with gang crime."  They think a move to Grassington  would provide them with a simple, uncomplicated lifestyle and is the perfect setting for them to safely raise their sons. Phillip works in security but is an aspiring Tory MP on a shadowing scheme that trains the next generation of Tory politicians.  Grassington is located in one of the safest Tory seats in the UK.
