A million pound marriage?

Category: News Release

Friday 29 April may be the big day for royal couple William and Kate but The Million Pound Drop hopes to make it a million times better for another lucky couple, who are tying the knot on the very same day.

On Friday night's live show, one pair of newlyweds will come straight from their wedding day to join Davina. They're hoping, straight after exchanging their vows, to beat the drop and make it through the eight questions with cash, to kick off their wedded bliss.

And hopefully Million Pound Drop will be making it a truly romantic weekend break for another engaged couple too, who will also get to join the Friday night love-in.

The groundbreaking multiplatform hit The Million Pound Drop Live returned to Channel 4 with a new series on Friday 22 April with twelve brand new episodes, which will show live every Friday and Saturday over six consecutive weekends.

The high-jeopardy interactive game show is hosted by Davina McCall. Contestants are given a million pounds in real money at the top of the show. But can they beat The Million Pound Drop?

Only eight questions stand between the contestants and this life-changing amount of money. If they're brave and smart they stand to take home a fortune. However, one wrong move could literally see thousands of pounds drop through the floor.

Viewers at home will once again have the opportunity to play alongside the contestants with a virtual million pounds with the hugely successful play along online game. And in this series, for the first time ever, one lucky player who beats the Drop in the online game will get the chance to take it on for real at the end of the series.

The series was ordered by entertainment commissioner Syeda Irtizaali and will be executive produced by David Flynn. Michelle Woods is series producer.
