The Mimic S2

Category: News Release

Episode one

After Martin's big break as a guest on a TV show doesn't go as planned, Martin finds work increasingly hard to find since leaving his job in Site Maintenance. His son, and agent, Steven decides to go travelling, unable to cope after the death of his Mother. Martin finds a new agent in his 'News agent' Neil, who's first gig is set to raise his Impressionist profile - busking at a Shopping Centre. After Jean and Neil's luxury cruise holiday, or 'floating prison' as Neil calls it, Jean realises they are two very different people and she decides to dump Neil.

 Episode Two

Martin realises he has no job, no car, no son and no woman so gets Jean to set him up on a blind date with her friend from Zumba – Harriet, an assertive body-language expert. Their date goes well, despite being gate-crashed by Neil, and the two hit it off over Martin's uncanny ability for Mimicry. Meanwhile Neil, who is convinced his elevated Oestrogen levels are the reason he was dumped by Jean, goes to a Build-a-Ted workshop to build a cuddly toy to win back Jean's heart.

Episode Three

Martin lands himself a job in site maintenance at a disused Warehouse, and finds an impressive antique ring in the drain. Harriet, displeased at dating a site maintenance worker, sets up a meeting for Martin with an agent to the stars. After signing, the agent introduces him to impressionist Nigel Lord his 'star client', who isn't happy to have a rival performer on his agent’s books. Meanwhile Neil's paranoia leads him to seek out the help of a psychoanalyst and Jean and Harriet find themselves coming to near blows over preparations for Martin's surprise 40th birthday party.

Episode Four

Martin realises he wants a family for Steven and decides to propose to Harriet with his newly discovered ring. He hasn't fully considered the implications though and when she informs him he'll have to convert to Judaism and get circumcised – at 40 years old - he has some serious thinking to do. Martin has his first stand-up performance, but instead of observational-based comedy he has to fall back on his impressions to get laughs.

 Episode Five

Martin's impression-based stand up does badly in the reviews. With the wedding drawing near, Harriet's turned into Bridezilla, laying increasingly drastic demands on Martin.  His enforced religious conversion, and looming circumcision, are non-negotiable if her father is to cover their wedding's mounting costs. But when Martin meets Harriet's decidedly non-kosher brother at his stag weekend doubts arise as to Harriet's real motives and secrets are revealed about her romantic past. With Martin's friends and family doubting the marriage, will he go through with it?

Episode Six

In this heart-breaking series finale it's the big day at last and Harriet and Martin are due to tie the knot. Only, with Martin having backed out of the bris required by Harriet's family, it now falls on him to fund the wedding. Given that he's a self-employed standup, it goes without saying that Harriet does not exactly get the wedding of her dreams.  With trouble brewing in paradise, Jean finds it hard to conceal her feelings toward Martin.
