My Kitchen Rules UK S2 Programme Information
Category: News Release
Competitive cooking show My Kitchen Rules UK returns for a second series with new judges at the helm: Michelin Star restaurateur Glynn Purnell and renowned food writer and Queen of Irish cooking Rachel Allen at the helm. For the next eight weeks the duo will judge 20 pairs of enterprising and inspired amateur cooks from four regions of the UK, who will open their own home restaurants for one ambitious night, in a bid to scoop the £10,000 prize and the right to say, ‘My Kitchen Rules.’
My Kitchen Rules UK is about real people with a real passion for food. Within each region, five teams of pairs must cook a three-course restaurant standard meal, against the clock for their rivals and the judges to experience and score. Dishes served late will have points taken off and the lowest scoring team from each region will be eliminated, so every team needs to hit the ground running.
As the competition heats up, the strongest teams from each region will go through to the new MKR Mansion, where their culinary skills will be put to the test as they are joined every day by a different world renowned chef or culinary guru. These include three Michelin Star chef Pierre Koffmann, British cook and food writer, Rachel Khoo, master of seafood and owner of the UK’s top restaurant, Nathan Outlaw, the godfather of Italian gastronomy and restaurateur, Antonio Carluccio OBE, celebrated double Michelin Star French chef, Claude Bosi and the king of Cantonese cuisine, Ken Hom OBE. In a dramatic new twist to the series, the guest chefs will challenge the teams to cook with a mystery ingredient, whilst mentoring and guiding them along the way. The winning teams from this round will make it to Kitchen Headquarters for a final series of cook-off challenges, which will see one team crowned the MKR UK Champions. But which team has the flair, finesse and the fine dining menu to set them apart from the rest?
Episode One
The first teams to cook are from the North. First up are sisters and best friends Shabana and Farzana. Their restaurant theme is ‘Spice Street’. The girls are raring to go but will their menu of a Spicy Fish Taco Basket with Lime & Mango Salad; Trio: Chicken & Lamb Shawarma Skewers with Avocado & Pomegranate Salad, Vegetable Fried Rice & Garlic Chilli Noodles; and Chocolate & Raspberry Gateaux Tower be a winning combination?
