Nat and Mike reunited for Channel 4's American Football Live

Category: News Release

Legendary pairing Nat Coombs and Mike Carlson will be reunited when the new NFL season kicks off - as acclaimed presenter, Coombs joins his old sidekick and analyst, Carlson to host Channel 4's live game coverage which kicks off on Sunday 9th September as the Pittsburgh Steelers visit the Denver Broncos.  Coverage kicks off at 1am.

In a double bonus for American Football fans in the UK, all seventeen flagship NFL games shown live by Channel 4 will be available in full HD - and will all be available as catch up programmes on Channel 4's 4oD service for the first time.

Coombs and Carlson worked together on UK television coverage of the NFL from 2007 to 2010 with their relaxed style, passion for the sport and knowledge of the game proving a big hit with American Football fans.  Nat Coombs has spent the last two years anchoring Radio 5 Live's NFL coverage as well as co-hosting the Americarange podcast alongside Carlson, which was nominated for Best Sports Show at the podcast awards - and working as a regular columnist for ESPN America as well as ESPN UK.

Nat Coombs said:  "I am looking forward to reuniting with Mike for the terrestrial TV coverage of NFL which is such an important part of the sports UK broadcast make up. Mike and I always try to make sure that we have fun when we're working whilst still addressing serious discussion and analysis. Plus, being a live show, it's hilarious when he gets cramp and has to stand up."

Channel 4's Sports Editor, Jamie Aitchison said: "I'm delighted to be reuniting the best presenter of American sports in the UK with the best NFL analyst in the UK.  With seventeen games broadcast live in HD, available in full on 4oD, and Nat and Mike back in charge, it promises to be a great NFL season on Channel 4."
