New addition to Channel 4 Documentaries Team

Channel 4 today announces a new appointment to its award-winning Factual commissioning team. Amy Flanagan will be joining as Documentaries Commissioning Editor from independent production company The Garden Productions where she has had the role of executive producer on major series and projects.

Deputy Head of Factual Nick Mirsky says: “ This is a really important appointment for us.  Amy is an outstanding talent in documentary production  - she’ll  bring her unique programme making intelligence and experience to the channel and our factual output.   It will be a privilege as well as a pleasure for us all to work with her.”

As a multi-award winning executive producer Flanagan has worked on a wide range of challenging and impactful content. She series produced and directed the first series of the critically-acclaimed and ratings hit 24 Hours in A&E, which won the Royal Television Society (RTS) Award for Best Documentary Series and went on to co-exec series two. She has also recently worked on Keeping Britain Alive for BBC Two. As well as her hands-on role in production at The Garden, Amy has been in charge of developing a slate of documentary and factual projects and identifying and nurturing new talent.

Previously, she spent six years at Blast! where she produced Victorian Sex Explorer (RTS Winner),The Artful Codgers and Last Days of the Raj (both Grierson-nominated) and factual drama Sex, the City and Me. Other credits include co-producer on the BAFTA-winning Feltham Sings for Century TV and series producer on the second series of The Hospital for North One.

I'm particularly looking forward to working with some of the best documentary talent in the indie sector, known and unknown, and also the opportunity of commissioning high quality documentary series with heart and purpose.”
