Nick Toon has been appointed to the newly created post of Head of Public Affairs at Channel 4,
Toon, who is currently Controller of Public Affairs for ITV, will be responsible for developing and communicating Channel 4's key messages for government, regulators and stakeholders.
He will be working closely and directly with the senior management of the channel, reporting to Head of Corporate Relations, John Newbigin.

He has done an excellent job at ITV and is highly regarded throughout the industry. I am delighted that he is joining us in this new role."

Since its creation the channel has played a key role in the UK's public service broadcasting ecology and I believe it's vital for the health of UK broadcasting that it continues to do so. With digital switchover fast approaching, there are some critical challenges ahead for the channel. The prospect of helping to develop and communicate a response to those challenges is a very exciting one."
Before taking up his post with ITV in 1999, Toon worked in Parliament as a researcher and for political consultancy and monitoring organisations. In the run up to the 1997 General Election he was a key member of the BBC's Political Research Unit based in Westminster.
