Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy Returns to E4
Category: News Release
Noel Fielding returns to E4 for the second fantastical series of Luxury Comedy which, this time round, takes place in a coffee shop on the edge of a volcano in Hawaii!
With a mixture of live action and animation each episode of expressionistic hijinks sees Noel and the gang, Andy Warhol (Tom Meeton), Dolly (Dolly Wells) and Smooth the anteater (Michael Fielding), caught up in a series of magical adventures. From trying to destroy a monster called Fantasy Block in an attempt to save their only viewer from an asteroid, to exploring the subject of disaffected youth while being threatened by a race of ultra-cool alien cucumbers, the second series of Luxury Comedy is a treat for the eyes and the mind alike!
Noel Fielding said: “I loved making this new series. It’s like an insect version of the Antiques Roadshow.
Nigel Coan, co-director and co-writer said: “Look at all the colours."
Fiona McDermott, Deputy Head of Comedy who commissioned the show for E4 said: “Luxury Comedy remains unlike any other comedy on your TV and that’s the core of its brilliance. Noel and team have taken the characters from series one and given them a new home, new ideas and lost nothing of the original magic of the show. It’s a total treat and we’re so proud to have it on E4.”
Much loved returning characters include Sgt Raymond Boombox (a painted New York cop), Fantasy Man (a modern day Don Quixote), Todd Laguna, a music producing hammerhead shark (played by comedian and film-maker Richard Ayoade), Joey Ramone (a mute plasticine punk) and Secret Peter (Noel's landlord) along with his brother Peter Out In The Open.
There's also new music to enjoy from the Loose Tapestries (Sergio Pizzorno of Kasabian and Noel Fielding). Once again the highly authored show is co-directed and co-written by Fielding’s creative partner Nigel Coan (The Mighty Boosh, Bunny and the Bull).
Guest stars include Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd), Steve Oram (Sightseers) and Simon Farnaby (Horrible Histories) and Rich Fulcher (The Mighty Boosh) among others.
The second series of Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy - ‘Tales From Painted Hawaii’ - was commissioned for E4 by Acting Deputy Head of Comedy Fiona McDermott. It is exec produced by Derrin Schlesinger and produced by Imogen Cooper. It is directed and written by Noel Fielding and Nigel Coan. The Production Company is Secret Peter.
