One-off comedy to tackle Scottish Independence coming to C4

With a mockumentary-feel, Scotland In A Day is a brand new crowdsourced-style comedy featuring John Hannah, Brian Cox, Doon Mackichan, Kayvan Novak and a host of stellar talent. The Comedy Unit has been commissioned to make the one-off half hour special for Channel 4.

The mockumentary is set on the day of the 2014 Scottish Independence referendum, and designed to capture a snap shot of a nation on the brink of both triumph and disaster.

Rachel Springett, commissioner for Channel 4 comedy said: 'This is a brilliantly unique idea that will bring levity and humour to what is essentially a cardinal, seminal moment in Scottish history. We're very excited to with with The Comedy Unit and an incredible castto bring this timely mockumentary to Channel 4"

Rab Christie, managing director of The Comedy Unit said: “Many of the characters and sketches are themed around the referendum, others are simply going about their business one day in September... hopefully it’ll be a very funny show, and a celebration of Scottish talent.”
