Paul Abbott's No Offence Signs Deutschland 83 Director

Category: News Release

The fifth episode of Paul Abbott's RTS award-winning prime time drama NO OFFENCE is to be directed by Deutschland 83's SAMIRA RADSI (Die Füchsin, Letzte Spur Berlin) – her first British drama project, shooting from the 1 August 2016.

German SAMIRA's work was first seen in the UK on Channel 4 in the international award winning Deutschland 83, she says: "This is my first UK gig and once I started watching NO OFFENCE I couldn't stop and fell in love with those fantastic characters, and all being played so well. The show’s been bought by ZDF Neo so is being shown in Germany and I'm definitely curious to see how the German audience reacts! Of course I knew Shameless and I was a fan of Paul, as his work is unique and original. He has a deep understanding for how life can become so desperate and absurd to try and survive as a human being - whoever you are and wherever you come from. No matter how off the wall some of his characters behave and how wild some of the scenarios are, there is always a deep sense of truth to it. Simply brilliant work!"

Episodes one and two of the new series of NO OFFENCE are directed by CATHERINE MORSHEAD (No Offence, Fungus The Bogeyman); and SARAH O’GORMAN (Stella, New Tricks) is on her final week of filming episodes three and four. There are seven brand-new raucous and razor-sharp episodes currently in production for an October transmission on Channel 4.  (A fourth director of the final two episodes is TBA.)

The unorthodox crack team of gobby cops all return at full-throttle, headed up by the brilliant blonde bonce Spartacus warrior DI Viv Deering, (Joanna Scanlan – Bridget Jones Baby), The Thick of It, Getting On), impulsive and street-smart DC Dinah Kowalska (Elaine Cassidy - The Paradise, Harper’s Island) and neurotic DS Joy Freers (Alexandra Roach - The Huntsman: Winter’s War, Hunderby). Other regular Friday Street cops, played by - Will Mellor, Paul Ritter, Tom Varey, Neet Mohan, Ste Johnston, Kate O'Flynn and Saira Choudhry - all go above and beyond the call of duty to get the job done. Joining as regulars this season are: Sarah Solemani, Rakie Ayola, Conor MacNeill, Zachary Momoh, Charlie May-Clarke and Jody Latham. Further casting includes: Patrick Bergin, Keith Dunphy, Orla O'Rourke, Chook Sibtain, Kieran O’Brien and Zac Sutcliffe.

NO OFFENCE series two - 7 x 60 minute episodes - will air on Channel 4 in autumn 2016, delivering a serious mix of jet black comedy and gripping drama for another original, funny and surprising series of NO OFFENCE.

NO OFFENCE was commissioned by Piers Wenger and Beth Willis for Channel 4. Written and created by Paul Abbott, it is produced by his company AbbottVision. Executive Producers are Paul Abbott and Martin Carr; with Simon Meyers as Producer. Commissioning Editor for Channel 4 is Roberto Troni. Writers: Paul Abbott, Paul Tomalin, Jimmy Dowdall.
