Press site weekly round-up, 30th April 2012
Category: News ReleaseWhoops. Maybe we shouldn't have nicked the plane keys...
Twelve days ago, we put up our spring/summer pack, accompanied by a release urging people to stay indoors during this summer to avoid the worst excesses of this terrible drought. At just about the second that the story appeared, it began to rain. Since then, a deluge of biblical proportions has engulfed this sceptred isle. Seriously, I've started building an ark, and collecting pairs of animals (so far I've just managed two ants, so there's a way to go yet to save the planet's fauna).
Anyoldhow, here is the latest weekly round-up of what's been posted on the press website, for those of you who showed insufficient application and dedication to properly monitor the site over the last seven days (do please share with the rest of us what was so important...)
News:
Whoops! We only went and crashed a plane. Only on ruddy purpose! But it's okay, it's all in the name of science. It's not like we're on Top Gear! Speaking of destructive, feral animals, we put up some startling images of urban foxes - it seems they are becoming truly adapted to city life!
Meanwhile, we won a pencil. That might not sound too exciting, but it was a Yellow Pencil. Still not that fussed? It's a very prestigious award, a bit like a cross between a Nervous Gerbil and a Spotty Cheeseboard.
On the subject of awards, we were nominated for something like 1.2 billion Baftas, whoopdedoo, check us out! (It may have been closer to 24, but who's counting?)
We also launched a spiffing new Facebook app, in support of the brilliant new show Very Important People.
We also announced three films that will have their world premieres at Cannes next year (I'll be sure to stop by if there's a marina big enough for my yacht, Hollyoaks). And we also did something very clever in an ad break, connected to the forthcoming film Prometheus.
New Commissions:
Just the one this week, 1001 Things You Should Know.
Video and interview:
There's a rather marvellous video on the foxes page we told you about earlier. And we have stuck up an interview with brilliant comedy duo Cardinal Burns, whose (genuinely hilarious) series begins on E4 on May 8th.
Programme information:
Yes, there's some of that.
