One-off documentary Princess Diana’s Dresses: The Auction explores the story behind some of the late princess’ most unforgettable looks through the couture dresses that went to auction in what was the biggest ever UK sale of her clothes.

With exclusive access to Kerry Taylor Auctions, this 60 minute film examines how Diana’s style evolved, the statement that was made by each outfit choice and why these particular dresses were so key throughout her time in the spotlight.

Unseen archive footage and interviews with the style insiders who knew her best bring to life what motivated Diana’s decisions towards fashion. From the 25ft train of her wedding gown that was longer than any other royal train, to the off-shoulder velvet gown worn when she famously danced with John Travolta and the striking halter neck black dress that was captured by Mario Testino – viewers will begin to understand how the princess used her clothes to express her individuality.

The film shows Diana’s growth in confidence and how she came to understand that her clothes could speak volumes. She began to know exactly how to dress for the occasion and could always be relied upon to give public the picture they wanted - never failing to walk down the red carpet as anything less than the epitome of glamour.
