Q&A with Andrew Still of Hollyoaks

Category: News Release

Name:  Andrew Still

Who do you play?

Joel Dexter

How would you describe the character you play?

I would say he's a confused young man with father issues and a delusional sense of entitlement - a complicated kid!

Are you anything like them in real life?

Nope, I'm a pretty cheery guy, except in the mornings... In the mornings I'm pretty much miserable!

If you could play any other character, who would you choose, and why?

Nah, everyone else plays their parts so well so I'd rather just stay as Joel, plus I do love the character.

How long have you been in Hollyoaks?

I've been here a year now and it's been great. It has totally changed my life.

What's been your favourite scene to shoot in Hollyoaks?

I can't tell you because it hasn't aired yet, you'll just have to wait and see...

And your worst?

It was probably my first scene with dialogue, just because I was so nervous. I look back and it was awful! Any of the scenes around that period I just cringe at because it was my first time acting for camera and I was just really inexperienced.

What would be your ideal storyline for your character?

I've been pretty fortunate, there's a couple of storylines coming up which I've always wanted to do so I'm very excited about that.

Who is the hottest cast member?

They're all lovely so I wouldn't like to choose.

Have you ever given anyone a Hollyoaks calendar as a present?

My dad, he was pretty happy about it as you can imagine - it wasn't the hunks one I'll tell you that much!

Do you ever use your job to jump queues for bars, clubs etc?

Nope never, because that would totally suck if I had been waiting in a queue and someone did that to me.

Do you ever get sent any weird fan mail?

No not really, I get nice fan mail, but who knows what the future holds.

What's your favourite joke?

I prefer funny anecdotes than jokes so if you've got a funny story then let me hear it.

Who's your best mate in the cast?

I like to think I'm pretty good friends with everyone, I work a lot with Emmett J Scanlan, Bronagh Waugh, Jorgie Porter and Neil Newbon who are great!

Who's the worst in the cast for inappropriate laughter?

Emmett J Scanlan, who plays Brendan Brady.

Who's the worst for forgetting lines?

Everyone is totally professional and always has their lines learned... most of the time anyway.

What's the best thing about being in Hollyoaks?

Being able to act every day is great and just learning all the time is definitely the best bit.

What's the worst?

Missing home is probably the worst part because I had to move away, but I do love Liverpool.
