Returning Characters

Grandma (played by Frances Cuka)

78 year old Nellie, is adored by the family. A bubbly lady, she loves a glass of sherry, loves the boys, and loves getting her hair done. However, she can be a bit of a stirrer, and tensions exist between her and her daughter, Jackie (Mum).

Tensions certainly arise when mum finds out her mother is having an affair with an 82 year old man behind the back of his 93 year old wife (Ep 2 - 'Mr Morris')...

Grandma appears in Episode 2 ('Mr Morris'), Episode 5 ('The Yoghurts') and Episode 7 ('Christmas').

Val (played by Tracy-Ann Oberman)

Mum's best friend - or 'Aunty Val' to the boys - is back. Warm and chatty, Val is mum's confidant, particularly when Dad has upset mum. Val dresses like mum, talks like mum - and to the boys - is exactly as annoying as mum. In fact, when Val's around, it's like having two mums in the house.

When Val sets Adam up on a blind date with one of her friend's daughters (Episode 3 'The Loft'), she's desperate to know all the juicy stuff, while Adam squirms.

Val appears in Episode 3 ('the Loft')

Special Guests

Mr Morris (played by Harry Landis)

82-year old, Lou Morris, is Grandma's new boyfriend, or as Grandma calls him - her 'male companion'. A short chap with a Hitler-ish moustache and trilby, Mr Morris manages to be pompous and rude, while maintaining a charming smile. Having run a button sewing company in the 60's and 70's, he has an aversion to 'Rutherfords', his rival button firm. Any mention of Rutherfords is enough to send him into a rage, for Mr Morris has one of the world's worst tempers.

No one can quite understand what sweet, lovely Grandma sees in this horrid vain, man.

Mr Morris appears in Episode 2 ('Mr Morris')

Liz (played by Lesley Vickerage)

Liz is Jonny's boss at the estate agent's. She's also become his girlfriend, and at 43 - is almost twice his age. Of course Adam won't stop ribbing him ('She's old enough to be your grandmother'...'I'll switch the stair lift on'... etc etc). The trouble is, Jonny is actually not very keen on her, but Liz becomes increasingly desperate to hold on to him.

What will Jonny do..?

Liz appears in Episode 4 ('the New Car') and Episode 5 ('The Yoghurts').

Landlord, The Black Boy Pub (played by Paul McNeilly)

The horrible, scary landlord of the horrible, scary 'Black Boy' pub (as seen in series 1) is back. This time he's even more horrible and scary. That's all you need to know...

The Landlord appears in Episode 3 - ('The Loft')

Grandma Goodman (played by Rosalind Knight)

Grandma Goodman - or 'Horrible Grandma' as the family like to secretly call her, is dad's (Martin's) mother. Grandma Goodman is a feisty lady, completely lacking in a sense of humour. Dad is terrified of his own mother, as she never has a nice thing to say about anyone. In short, she's not the warmest of grandmas, or as Dad explains to mum: "She hates everything... she hates the boys".

Grandma Goodman's one love is her decrepit old dog, Boudacea - probably the only dog in northwest London who has to use an oxygen mask.

Grandma Goodman appears in Episode 7 ('Christmas')
