Sarah Owen appointed Head of Marketing
Category: News ReleaseChannel 4 today confirms the appointment of Sarah Owen as Channel 4's Head of Marketing.
Reporting to Dan Brooke, Channel 4's Director of Marketing and Communications, Owen will oversee consumer and digital marketing, and will be responsible for leading a coherent brand strategy for the organisation's network of channels and new media services - prioritising, planning and implementing all on and off air marketing campaigns.
Sarah joined Channel 4 in 2007 from Ad Agency BBH, as Marketing Manager for E4 and Comedy. She was promoted in 2008 to Group Marketing Manager, with responsibility for all Entertainment, Comedy and Drama marketing activity, across Channel 4's entire portfolio of channels.
Owen's marketing credits include the launch campaigns for dramas This is England ‘86, and The Promise as well as campaigns for Dead Set, Skins, The Inbetweeners and Misfits on E4, for which the department picked up the Best Channel Marketing Award at the Broadcast Digital Awards in 2010.
She was also responsible for high profile entertainment campaigns including The Alternative Election Night and Peter Kay's Britain's Got the Pop Factor, as well as Derren Brown's How to Predict The Lottery, where innovative marketing brought more viewers to the stunt on Channel 4 than the lottery results on BBC One.
Prior to her role as Content Director at BBH, Sarah held various positions at the BBC, including Marketing Manager, News and Current Affairs and Brand Manager for BBC Radio 1.
Dan Brooke, Channel 4's Director of Marketing and Communications, said:
"Channel 4 is being reinvented and Sarah is in the cockpit of that mission. She's a great talent and we're lucky to have her."
Sarah Owen added
"I've enjoyed my time so far at Channel 4 immensely and am really looking forward to leading the team during what will no doubt be a fascinating and exciting time for British television."
