Jack’s very articulate. He’s ambitious in that he has wanted to be in astrophysics for years and has a set plan about how he will do that, starting with choosing Leicester specifically for its space research centre. At Leicester they’re building a replacement for the Hubble telescope, the James Webb project. They launch it the year he finishes his degree and it’s his ‘master plan’ to get a job working there on it. For his work experience, he contacted a leading astrophysicist at Harvard University and asked to spend a week there following him. He was allowed to, and after a great week shadowing him and others, they’re still in touch today.

Jack misses school a lot – he had a big group of mates and they all stuck together at college too. They’re quite the group of lads – they go on road trips and have been to Amsterdam and Sri Lanka on a cricket tour; they drink beers while watching sport and playing PlayStation. If there is an opportunity to go out and do something mad, they’ll take it.

Despite being quite ‘laddy’, Jack is a virgin and is hoping to meet some girls at Uni. He hasn’t really met anyone at home or had a chance to. He wants to have a lot of fun, but will he find the right girl to go that step further with?
