Sharon Rooney plays Faye Caddy

Category: News Release

I was a massive Shameless and No Offence fan before joining the show so I was really familiar with Paul Abbott’s work. This series feel very real, scarily so. The writing is so good! I’ve tried SO hard to read the minimum of the scripts that I could get away with whilst filming, so that I can watch it fresh – that’s how much I love the show.

Faye isn’t a very nice girl. She thinks that she’s hard and to be honest she is. If I met her in the street I would cross the road. She absolutely adores her big brother Dennis, and she would do anything for him. In Faye’s case her bark is just as bad as her bite.

I had such an amazing time working on NO OFFENCE. It’s strange because I was playing someone I didn’t really like, and it was the first time I had to really wrestle with that. That was the worst bit. I had to really try to find some way to find even a little empathy with her somewhere. The cast and crew are so brilliant they give you that permission and safety to go to the place you have to go to, to portray someone so nasty without holding that against you. They say that kind people play the best baddies and I really hope that’s true! I’m so thankful I got to bring Faye Caddy to life.
