Stand Up To Cancer
Category: News ReleaseIt's here - stars from television, music and film are coming together this week for "Stand Up To Cancer" - a unique new fundraising campaign on Channel 4. Joining forces with Cancer Research UK, Friday's live fundraising event hosted by Davina McCall, Alan Carr and Dr Christian will be joined by a super-sized group of celebrities to show their support for SU2C UK, including: Kylie Minogue , Jennifer Aniston, Cheryl Cole, George Clooney, Bradley Cooper, Samuel L Jackson, Leona Lewis , Gwyneth Paltrow, The Simpsons, Will Smith, Derren Brown, Jenson Button, Jimmy Carr, Tom Daley, Martin Freeman, Anna Friel, Alesha Dixon, Miranda Hart, JLS, Chris O'Dowd, Bear Grylls, and David Haslehoff.
Jennifer Aniston said: "Cancer touches all our lives, which is why we need to Stand Up To Cancer, right here on Channel 4."
Alan Carr will front a super-sized chat show with the best green room ever, packed with A-list stars both from the UK and the US. Building on the success of Carr's recent "Spectacular", audiences will also be treated to special sketches, VTs and high octane star-studded stunts.
Alan Carr revealed: "Pretty much everyone will be affected by this disease in their lifetime, and that's the very simple reason why I'm honoured to be involved with this campaign. Like so many people, I've seen exactly how destructive the big C is. I've lost two people already this year to cancer, and friend of mine who has been diagnosed with throat cancer is having her voice box removed next week, and won't speak again. So we need to raise a lot of money."
Alan and his friend Sam, who he mentions above, will also feature in one of the short films shown during the evening.
