Success for Channel 4 acquisitions in Emmy nominations

Category: News Release

We’re feeling a teeny bit proud after yesterday’s nominations announcement for the 66th primetime annual Emmy Awards – with a grand total of 49 nominations across our portfolio of acquisitions. Hoorah!

Fargo, which launched on Channel 4 in April, has secured 18 nominations – including Outstanding Miniseries and Outstanding Lead Actor nods for both double-nominee Martin Freeman and his co-star Billy Bob Thornton.

The Big Bang Theory takes its place amongst the contenders for Outstanding Comedy Series – with Jim Parsons nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series - alongside a further five nominations for the E4 series overall. Newcomer, The 100 built on its success as the best overnight programme launch for E4 earlier this week by securing a nomination for Outstanding Special and Visual Effects for its first season.

Series which are due to return to our screens later this year – including Masters of Sex, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Homeland – secured a total of 10 award nominations collectively, with a range of other returning series, including More4’s The Good Wife being nominated across several categories including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Julianna Margulies.

Closer to home, Ricky Gervais has also been nominated for an Emmy in the category for best lead actor in a comedy for his portrayal of Derek.

The 66th Emmy awards will take place in L.A. on 25th August hosted by Seth Myers.
