T4: Battlefront

Category: News Release

Joseph Hayat, 18, from Lincoln and Hafsah Ali, 17, from Leicester are on a mission; they want to break the cycle of youth unemployment by increasing work experience opportunities for young people.

In the first of a three part series on Battlefront, the Emmy award-winning campaigning project, which profiles the journey of young campaigners on a mission to change the world, the campaigning duo take their youth unemployment campaign to the Underage Festival in London where some of the UK's biggest music acts are performing to 10,000 13-to-17 year-olds.

T4 presenter Georgie Okell sets Joseph and Hafsah a bunch of tough challenges that they must achieve before the end of the day, including getting a massive music name to shout about their campaign live on stage - will they pull it off before the festival finishes and win the ultimate prize to help propel their campaign to the next level?

With almost one million unemployed under 25s in the UK at the moment, the festival is the perfect place to garner support and inspire young people, who are concerned about their future. Featuring interviews with Labrinth, the Midnight Beast, Rizzle Kicks, Crystal Fighters and Fugative.

The second episode will follow 15-year-old Hope Milne, from Croydon, and 21-year-old Abby Thackray, from Epsom, who want to get more people to sign the organ donor register and, just as importantly, talk to their loved ones about what they want should the worst happen. Both Hope and Abby have personal experience of what it is like to need an organ; Hope's brother had an organ transplant when he was four, and Abby's sister had a double lung transplant when she was 23. They have recently won the support of former X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke, who has her own personal story to tell as she and her family have struggled for years to find an organ for her mother.

The third and final episode in this series will see Billy Bridge, 15, and Richard Sargent, 18 from Ellesmere Port and Nottingham as they seek to inspire everyone to get active and find a sport they can really love with the support of the Sugababes.

All the Battlefront campaigners have big ambitions and with the help of experienced mentors and a dedicated Battlefront team, they'll turn their issues into fully-fledged campaigns and set off on a journey to achieve something incredible.
