Three Billboards crosses $100 million worldwide box office gross

Martin McDonagh’s Academy Award nominated and Golden Globe-winning Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, financed by Fox Searchlight Pictures and Film4, crossed $100 million in worldwide gross on Monday, February 12, 2018. Released on January 12, 2018 in the UK, Three Billboards has already collected over $14 million in receipts here, and has amassed over $45 million in U.S. box office since it began its platform release November 10, 2017. There have also been robust returns from Australia of nearly $7 million and Spain, where the film has passed $5 million.

After its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival last autumn, Three Billboards has received Academy Award nominations for Best Picture, Best Actress (Frances McDormand), Best Supporting Actor (Sam Rockwell and Woody Harrelson), Best Original Screenplay (Martin McDonagh), Best Original Score and Best Editing.

This coming weekend, the film will compete for nine BAFTA Awards, including Best Film, Outstanding British Film, Director, Original Screenplay, Leading Actress and Supporting Actor.

Other major accolades garnered include Best Ensemble, Best Actress (Frances McDormand) and Best Supporting Actor (Sam Rockwell) from The Screen Actors’ Guild and Best Ensemble, Best Actress (Frances McDormand), and Best Supporting Actor (Sam Rockwell) from the Broadcast Film Critics. In January, the film won Best Picture, Best Actress (Frances McDormand), Best Supporting Actor (Sam Rockwell) and Best Screenplay (Martin McDonagh) at the Golden Globe Awards. The film has won seven audience awards including Toronto’s Grolsch People’s Choice Award. It recently won Best Film from the London Film Critics Circle.

Film4 has backed all McDonagh’s screen work to date, including his Academy Award winning short film “Six Shooter” and his debut feature “In Bruges” which was nominated for the Academy Award and won the BAFTA Award for Best Original Screenplay. McDonagh is currently receiving rave reviews for the sold-out run of Hangmen at Atlantic Theater Company in Manhattan.
