Tool Academy: Boyfriends Behaving Badly
Category: News ReleaseEpisode 1/9, Tuesday 23rd October, 10pm, E4
Tool Academy is back for a third series, but this time, ten very bad boyfriends are being banged up abroad in sunny Spain. The Academy is a place for ungratified girlfriends to send their boyfriends to cure them of their wiley ways.
This series, we are spoilt for choice with ‘tools' - Gigantic Tool, Cheating Tool, Beefcake Tool, Neander-Tool, Cocky Tool, Ginger Tool, Big Daddy Tool, Mr Coventry Tool, Weepy Tool and Stripper Tool. Each of these ‘shitty' boyfriends will be put through their paces by their girlfriends who have all had enough. They have all been enrolled for a number of reasons, nothing is too shocking, from a tool who cheated on his pregnant girlfriend to others who always put their mates and beer before their beloved. Trust is a big issue this series, with many of the tools giving their girlfriends reason to worry - posting suggestive pictures online, a love of threesomes and swinging and another who openly flirts with other women in front of his girlfriend. Commitment, fidelity, anger and arrogance - yes these ‘tools' do need curing.
Kicking off the series in style, the boys are duped into taking part in a fake show called ‘The Man Games 2012' - enjoying an endless ‘jolly' filled with ladies, leisure and lager. Hosted by Imogen Thomas, these poor ‘tools' participate in loosely sports related challenges which put their manliness to the test, thinking they are in with the chance of winning £15,000 and a steamy night with the Welsh beauty. Challenging their ‘man-ability', the ‘tools' participate in a host of games under the direction of Imogen - we see them ‘Muff Diving', frolicking with food around ladies bikini bottoms and enjoying every minute and dressing in frocks serving cocktails to Imogen in the ‘Drag Race'. They are also given the task of getting the most number of ladies phone numbers written all over their bodies in the ‘Ring My Bell End' challenge and some very ‘shitty' behaviour is revealed during a pool party.
Away from these challenges, the ‘tools' make the most of their time in Spain without their girlfriends, getting up close and personal with a host of senoritas. From snogging to getting their ‘man-bits' out for all to see, there is no limit to what these boys will do for a little female attention. We see a Tool hiding from the cameras whilst he tries to seduce a lucky lady, whilst another just blatantly introduces himself to a group of ladies with ‘who wants it?' Strutting around like singletons - there's a load of inappropriate touching, flirting, snogging and the rest - without a care in the world in for their dear other halves, who they think are on UK soil.
Little do they know that they are about to spend the next few weeks sleeping in vermin-ridden horse stables with no hot water, an intense course of awkward couple therapy, cringy group sharing and trust exercises.
As they let loose with the bikini babes, all of the bad behaviour is caught on camera and shown to their girlfriends, who are naturally heartbroken. They are then told that they have really been signed up to Tool Academy. And they kick off. Big time.
However, they do realise that instead of a night with Imogen, they are ultimately competing for a £25,000 prize. And the best prize of all...the love of a good woman.
This series features a host of themed episodes - from the couples recreating steamy love scenes from famous films and a Glee-inspired show to marriage proposals, alongside all the sex ed classes, lots of tears and remorse. We see real change for all of the couples - which guys go from emotional robots to drivelling, sappy, affectionate love puppies?
Tool Academy is back.
