Ronan Bennett (writer, creator and co-producer)

Ronan Bennett was born in Belfast and is now based in London. He is a critically-acclaimed novelist and screenwriter for film and television.

His films include Public Enemies (directed by Michael Mann and starring Johnny Depp), Lucky Break and Face. His hugely distinctive television dramas include The Hamburg Cell (Channel 4), Fields of Gold, Love Lies Bleeding and Rebel Heart. His most recent serial for television, Hidden, is currently screening on BBC ONE.

He is the co-author of Stolen Years: Before and After Guildford, the highly-praised account of Paul Hill's trial and imprisonment in the aftermath of the Guildford bombings. His first novel, The Second Prison, was shortlisted for the Irish Times/Aer Lingus First Fiction Award. His other novels include HAVOC in its Third Year, Overthrown by Strangers and The Catastrophist, shortlisted for the Whitbread Novel Award. He has also contributed regularly to the London Review of Books, The Guardian, The Observer, Time Out and the Times Literary Supplement.

 

Yann Demange (director)

BAFTA-nominated director Yann Demange was born in Paris and grew up in London, where he is now based.

He began his career focusing on music promos, commercials and filming live concerts before going on to study film at the London College of Printing. His 2001 graduation film, Joe, was accepted by the British Film Council as part of its festival programme and screened internationally. After producing a range of documentaries he went on to garner an MA from the National Film & Television School, graduating five years ago and moving directly into television comedy drama with Channel 4's Man in a Box.

More recently he directed Charlie Brooker's reality TV drama/zombie romp Dead Set, which received both a British Comedy Award nomination and a BAFTA nomination for Best Drama Serial. And in addition last year he was BAFTA nominated (Best Director, Fiction/Entertainment) for the critically-acclaimed five-part drama Criminal Justice.

 

Cowboy Films

Cowboy Films is run by producing partners Charles Steel and Alasdair Flind. Previous films include The Last King of Scotland, which won an Oscar for Best Actor and a BAFTA for best British film, Goodbye Charlie Bright and the cinema documentary Fire in Babylon.

Previous TV productions include Poppy Shakespeare, which won the BAFTA for Best Actress. Cowboy also produces short films including the Oscar-winning Wasp (Andrea Arnold) and the BAFTA-winning I-DopAir (Martina Amati). Currently in post-production is Marley, a cinema documentary on Bob Marley, directed by Kevin McDonald, to be released in 2012.
