True Blood
Category: News ReleaseTrue Blood, the much anticipated and critically acclaimed vampire series from Six Feet Under creator Alan Ball debuts on Channel 4 on October 7th
Oscar winner Anna Paquin stars as telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse alongside British actor Stephen Moyer as 173-year-old vampire Bill Compton in the award-winning 12 part drama series.
Based on the meticulously crafted novels by Charlaine Harris, True Blood centres in the back-water Louisiana town of Bon Temps, where vampires have come out of the coffin and are vying for equal rights.
Vampires no longer need humans for their fix - thanks to the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood, but though they can walk freely among their living counterparts, their nocturnal lives are far from quiet.
Sookie Stackhouse (Paquin) works as a waitress at the local bar Merlotte's. Though outwardly normal, she has unusual qualities of her own: Sookie can read minds. This complicates her world in endless ways. So when Sookie meets mysterious newcomer Bill Compton (Moyer) she is intrigued to find someone whose thoughts cannot be read. The two outsiders are immediately drawn to each other. But the peace and normality that Sookie searches for is far from what she finds as she is plunged into a gothic tale of vampires, shapeshifters and voodoo.
The series stars; Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Ryan Kwanten, Sam Trammell, Rutina Wesley, Nelsan Ellis and Alexander Skarsgard.
True Blood is created and executive produced by Alan Ball (creator of the Emmy-winning series Six Feet Under and Oscar winning film American Beauty) for HBO; Ball also wrote the first three episodes and directs two episodes.
