Very Important People

Category: News Release

Running Bare and Channel 4 Pictures presents Very Important People, the celebrity impression show that not only mocks our beloved stars but also goes on to satirize a culture now bamboozled by trivia, gossip and regurgitated ideas. Starring Morgana Robinson & Terry Mynott, as well as a cherry-picked ensemble cast, Very Important People, is about to reinvigorate the world of impressions. Keeping things ultra-fresh each show will also feature a topical sketch recorded in the week of transmission. Celebrities under the VIP spotlight include: Perez Hilton, Natalie Cassidy, Fearne Cotton, Adele, Bear Grylls, Frankie Boyle, President Barack Obama, Russell Brand, Katy Price, Kerry Katona, Simon Cowell, Nick Grimshaw, Sophie Dahl, The Gallaghers, Noel Fielding, Danny Dyer, Amy Childs and many, many more.

VIP features a fresh and gifted ensemble cast of comedy talent including Morgana Robinson, Terry Mynott, Liam Hourican, Oggy Hawkins, Nico Tatarowicz and Francine Lewis. The show has been devised by Series Producer Jack Bayles (Russell Brand, Frank Skinner), Director James De Frond (Bo Selecta, The Morgana Show) and Head Writer Matt Morgan. Matt Morgan is a hugely talented breakthrough writer. Formerly an Award winning Radio presenter (BBC Radio 2) he began writing on Russell Brand's Ponderland. This year, he will follow heading up VIP with his first commissioned sitcom, The Mimic, featuring Terry Mynott in the lead.

Fiona McDermott, Commissioning Editor Channel 4 comedy said "VIP's hugely talented cast of new faces have managed to capture the quirks of dozens of modern celebrities.  Filming a topical section each week also means we'll be perfectly placed to keep up with the pace of the celebrity merry-go-round and no one will escape our gaze.  The results make for a brilliantly original and most importantly very funny show indeed.  Celebrities beware!"

Morgana Robinson created a big noise in 2010 with her highly acclaimed debut series The Morgana Show which showcased her incredible ability to take an impersonation and create her own character, picking up acute physical nuances, mannerisms, and catchphrases. Morgana's first break came when she met her future agent John Noel while waitressing at a Soho restaurant. In addition to the premiere of ‘The Morgana Show' in 2010 Morgana starred alongside the likes of Jennifer Saunders and Rik Mayall in the new Comic Strip Presents film 'The Hunt for Tony Blair' broadcasted on Channel 4.

Sharing the spotlight in VIP is Terry Mynott. His unique talent of mimicking voices to a scarily accurate level truly sets him apart as an impressionist. So much so, that it is about feature at the heart of Channel 4 sitcom, ‘The Mimic' later this year. Another fresh talent, Terry has featured in The Morgana Show and Bo Selecta amongst other projects. Terry came to agent John Noel's attention via a hugely popular YouTube clip of him going through an exhaustive list of impressions that quickly reached over 150,000 views through word of mouth.
