What life is really like for the growing Roma community in the UK?

Category: News Release

The Roma are Europe’s largest, and arguably the most persecuted and deprived ethnic minority - and up to half a million Roma Gypsies now live in Britain.

With political pressure to curb immigration at an all-time high, this is a community under the spotlight.

But what is life really like for the Roma? Later this summer Channel 4 will air Living with the Roma – Cutting Edge (w/t) a one hour observational documentary offering a frank and honest look into the lives of this tight-knit community.

The film features extraordinary access to families who live by ancient customs and offers an inside view on a world where arranged marriages for children are wide spread and bride money is openly negotiated.

We'll witness the challenge for British authorities as they try to intervene with families that live by alien customs.

We meet remarkable people from this diverse community and learn that far from being one people with one way of life, the Roma are diverse, divided and unexpected.

This documentary is produced by the BAFTA and RTS winning Minnow Films.
